DPDP Act 2023 — Consent at the Core

Privacy & Consent
Management Platform

Capture lawful consent, enforce it at runtime, manage Data Principal rights and govern your entire data lifecycle — one unified platform built for Banks, NBFCs and BFSI enterprises under India's DPDP Act & Rules 2025.

Platform Overview

One Consent Fabric. Three Core Capabilities

Consent is not just a checkbox. Pixl's platform governs every dimension of consent — creation, lifecycle management, and runtime enforcement — across your entire enterprise.

01 / CONSENT CREATION

Build & Capture Consent

No-code Consent Form Builder for every customer touchpoint — account opening, loan origination, KYC, insurance onboarding. Publish to Web, Mobile, Branch, API and Partner Systems with version control and multilingual support in all 22 Scheduled Languages of India.

Key Features
  • No-Code Consent Form Builder
  • Purpose & Legal Basis Configuration
  • Multi-channel Publishing (Web, Mobile, Branch, API)
  • 22 Indian Scheduled Languages
  • Immutable Consent Ledger (audit-ready)
  • Review & Approval Workflow (DPO, Legal, Compliance)
02 / CONSENT LIFECYCLE

Manage & Govern Consent

Consent is not static. Bank customers and borrowers can review, modify, renew or withdraw at any time. Every Data Principal Rights request — Access, Correction, Withdrawal, Erasure, Nomination — triggers an audited 7-step DPAR workflow that propagates updates to all downstream systems instantly.

Key Features
  • DPAR Request Portal (Self-Service)
  • Right to Access, Correction & Erasure
  • Consent Withdrawal Propagation
  • SLA Timers & Grievance Officer Routing
  • Consent Ledger Version History
  • Downstream System Notification (CBS, CRM, LOS)
03 / RUNTIME ENFORCEMENT

Enforce Consent at Runtime

The Policy Decision Engine (PDE) validates every data processing request in real time — against the Consent Ledger and Governance Policies — before any system accesses personal data. ALLOW, DENY or NEED_FRESH_CONSENT is returned with a full timestamped audit entry.

Key Features
  • Policy Decision Engine (PDE)
  • Consent Query API for CBS, CRM, LOS
  • Purpose Matching & Legal Basis Validation
  • Data Category & Retention Rule Checks
  • ALLOW / DENY / NEED_FRESH_CONSENT Responses
  • Audit & Evidence Log per Decision

How It Works

Consent Creation & Capture — 8 Steps

From defining a business purpose to storing a cryptographically signed consent record — every step is governed, versioned and audit-ready.

01

Business Purpose

Define the data processing need — KYC verification, loan disbursement, credit bureau sharing — and bind it to a DPDP-lawful basis (Legal Obligation, Legitimate Use or Consent).

02

Consent Form Builder

No-code builder creates purpose-specific consent forms for savings account opening, personal loans, credit card issuance, insurance KYC and more.

03

Configure

Set Purpose, Legal Basis, Data Categories, Retention Period and all 22 Scheduled Indian Languages as mandated under DPDP Rules.

04

Review & Approval

Legal, Compliance, DPO and Privacy teams review notice text and consent clauses in a structured multi-tier approval workflow before publishing.

05

Publish

Deploy instantly across Web, Mobile Banking App, Branch, Internet Banking Portal, API Gateway, Contact Centre and Partner Systems in one action.

06

Customer Gives Consent

Your bank customer, NBFC borrower or policyholder reviews the notice and gives granular consent through their preferred channel in any of the 22 Indian languages.

07

Consent Validation

Real-time Policy Decision Engine validates against purpose, data category, retention and governance policies — returning ALLOW, DENY or NEED_FRESH_CONSENT instantly.

08

Consent Ledger

Every consent is stored as an immutable, cryptographically signed ledger record — audit-ready for Data Protection Board of India (DPBI) inspections and RBI regulatory reviews.

Consent Lifecycle

Consent Lifecycle Through DPAR

Consent is not static. Bank customers, borrowers and policyholders can review, modify, renew or withdraw their consent at any point. Every Data Principal Rights (DPAR) request — Access, Correction, Withdrawal, Erasure — orchestrates a 7-step workflow that updates the Consent Ledger and notifies all connected downstream systems in real time.

Consent Active
Consent Withdrawn
Renewal Required

The Consent Ledger is the single source of truth — every application across Core Banking, CRM, LOS and Mobile Banking consults it before processing any personal data.

01

Request Type Classification

DPAR requests are automatically classified — Access, Correction, Withdrawal, Erasure, Grievance Redressal or Nomination — and routed to the correct workflow.

02

Workflow Processing

Automated case creation with SLA timers routes the request to the appointed Grievance Officer or Data Protection Officer for action within the DPDP-mandated timeline.

03

Consent Status Updated

The Consent Ledger is updated to reflect the new consent state — Modified, Renewed, Withdrawn or Expired — with a full version history preserved.

04

Consent Ledger Updated

An immutable, timestamped ledger entry is created with Actor, Evidence and DPAR Request Reference — forming the audit trail for Data Protection Board inspection.

05

Version History Created

Every consent state change is versioned, enabling side-by-side comparison of consent history across the customer's full data lifecycle.

06

Notify Connected Systems

All downstream systems — Core Banking, CRM, Mobile App, Third-Party Partners, Analytics Platforms — are notified in real time to reflect the customer's latest consent status.

07

Audit Trail Logged

A complete, tamper-proof audit entry is logged with timestamp, actor identity, reason, policy reference and evidence — ready for regulatory inspection at any time.

Runtime Enforcement

Policy Decision Engine & Runtime Enforcement

Every request by a Core Banking System, CRM, Loan Origination System or Mobile Banking App to process personal data is intercepted by the Policy Decision Engine (PDE). The PDE validates the request against the Consent Ledger and Governance Policies before any data is accessed — enforcing consent at the data layer, not just at the UI.

ALLOW

Processing is permitted. Consent is valid, active and purpose-matched. The requesting system proceeds.

DENY

Processing is blocked. Consent is absent, withdrawn or the purpose does not match. Access is refused and the refusal is logged.

NEED_FRESH_CONSENT

Existing consent has expired or been modified. A fresh consent must be obtained from the Data Principal before processing can resume.

Every decision — ALLOW, DENY or NEED_FRESH_CONSENT — is logged with a timestamp, reason, policy reference and actor identity, forming an evidence-grade audit trail.

PDE Validation Checks
  • Is consent available? A consent record for this Data Principal must exist in the Consent Ledger before any processing is permitted.
  • Is the consent active and not withdrawn? Withdrawn or expired consents are immediately enforced — no system can process on a revoked consent.
  • Does the requested purpose match? Credit bureau sharing consent cannot be repurposed for marketing. Strict purpose limitation enforced per DPDP Act.
  • Is the legal basis valid? Legal Obligation, Legitimate Use and Consent are mapped per processing activity — validated against Governance Policies in real time.
  • Is the requested data category covered? Sensitive Personal Data — Aadhaar, financial records, health data — requires explicit consent and stricter purpose matching.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Privacy & Consent Management for Banks, NBFCs and BFSI enterprises.

A Privacy & Consent Management Platform enables organizations to collect, record, enforce and manage customer consent across all data processing touchpoints. It ensures that personal data is only processed when lawful consent has been given and that Data Principals can exercise their rights — access, correction, erasure and withdrawal — at any time.

Pixl provides Banks and NBFCs with a full consent lifecycle engine — from no-code consent form creation and multilingual notice publishing to real-time Policy Decision Engine enforcement and immutable Consent Ledger records. It covers all DPDP Act obligations including Data Principal Rights management (DPAR), DPIA workflows, RoPA, breach notification and regulatory reporting for the Data Protection Board of India.

The Policy Decision Engine is a real-time runtime enforcement layer. When any system — Core Banking, CRM, Loan Origination System, Mobile Banking App — requests to process personal data, the PDE validates the request against the Consent Ledger and Governance Policies, returning ALLOW (processing permitted), DENY (processing blocked) or NEED_FRESH_CONSENT (new consent required). Every decision is timestamped and logged as audit evidence.

Yes. Pixl provides headless APIs, Web/Mobile SDKs, Embeddable Widgets and Enterprise Connectors that integrate directly with Core Banking Systems (CBS), Loan Origination Systems (LOS), Loan Management Systems (LMS), CRM platforms, KYC engines and digital banking portals — without requiring changes to existing workflows.

The Immutable Consent Ledger is a cryptographically signed, tamper-proof record of every consent event — creation, modification, renewal, withdrawal and expiry. It serves as the single source of truth for audit inspections by the Data Protection Board of India (DPBI) and regulatory reviews by RBI, SEBI or IRDAI.

Pixl provides a self-service DPAR portal where customers can submit requests for Data Access, Correction, Erasure, Grievance Redressal and Nomination. Each request triggers an automated workflow with SLA timers, routes to the appointed Grievance Officer or DPO, updates the Consent Ledger and notifies all connected downstream systems — Core Banking, CRM, LOS — to reflect the latest consent status.

Yes. Pixl can be deployed fully on-premise inside your own data centre — satisfying RBI data localisation requirements and DPDP Act data residency obligations — or as a managed cloud/SaaS deployment. The same consent lifecycle, Policy Decision Engine and Immutable Ledger capabilities are available across all deployment models.
